Hear the Thrilling Tales from Our Happy Fishing Clients!

"Wish we could rate Captain Josh and Janelle 10 stars because WOW! We did a 4 hour fishing trip and 2 hour sunset cruise and it was fantastic. Captain Josh put us on a good bite, my boyfriend and I were extremely satisfied with our fishing experience! We are avid fishers and highly recommend this experience when visiting the keys. Both Captain Josh and his wife, Janelle were very personable and great hosts. They provided snacks and water during the trip which was very nice! The sunset cruise at the end of a day of fishing is a MUST! Thanks again Josh and Janelle, we will see you again soon!."

FAQS

01 Cancellations

Southern Sons Charter Fishing and Sunset Cruise Policies

No Show Policy : Full payment is required for no-shows.

When a charter is booked, the Captain dedicates the entire day to the anglers, thereby reserving this time exclusively for

them. No-shows result in lost opportunities as the Captain turns away other potential clients for that day. Charging for

no-shows is essential to compensate for the lost revenue and ensure the viability of the service.

Weather-Related Cancellations

Only the Captain has the authority to cancel a charter due to weather conditions.
In the event of a weather-related cancellation, the deposit will be held and applied to the next convenient day for the

 anglers.

Advance Notice for Changes
If you need to modify or cancel your booking, please provide at least 72 hours' notice before departure. Customers will

receive a full refund, full credit, or the option to re-book. Ensure you notify the Captain in ample time to make

 alternative arrangements.

Sunset Cruises : Advanced notice is required to accommodate scheduling.
Deposit : A $200 deposit is required for all charters.
Payment Methods : The remaining balance will be collected prior to the start of the charter and can be paid in person,

04 Commonly asked questions

Are there restroom facilities on the boat?

Yes, our 45-foot Hatteras boat includes a step-down lavatory with a door

Are children allowed on the charter?

Absolutely! Please be aware that the Coast Guard strictly regulates the number of passengers we can accommodate on board. Therefore, every individual, regardless of age, is counted as a passenger. Additionally, children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Please note, we only allow a maximum of 6 passengers per charter on our 48-foot Hatteras

We always welcome working service animals on our tours and excursions. Please inform us in advance, and once approved, this will be noted in your reservation. What should you bring?

Preparing for a deep-sea fishing charter involves packing essential items to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience. Wear light, breathable clothing with a jacket or windbreaker for cooler moments. Bring a wide-brimmed hat, polarized sunglasses, and non-slip shoes for sun protection and safety on deck. Don't forget sunscreen, lip balm, and a small towel for personal care. Bring seasickness medication and a basic first aid kit just in case. Stay hydrated with plenty of water and pack snacks like granola bars and nuts. Carry a waterproof bag for your belongings and a camera or phone in a waterproof case to capture memories. You do not need a fishing license with you to board the charter.

Capt Josh's Tips/Recommendations

-People ask what to bring for food while on the charter..... Pubs subs

are most popular. Yes, I like them as well. It is best to order the evening before or morning of your charter depending on departure time.

-From March till August it is very very busy here in Marathon. Some days adjustments have to be made to ensure a quailty day on the water.

-People ask about good places to eat and places that will cook your catch so, here are my favorites:

-Florida Steak and Lobster (hands down, the best) Reservations will be the way to go. They get slammed, everyday, all day.

-Herbies- The Chicken Smash and Cheeseburger in Parafries!!

-Dockside- Think a local dive bar sort of. Great live music

-Driftwood Pizza and Wings. Great wings and pizza perfect for an on the water all day dinner

-Lazy Days- Great cook your catch

-Castaways- Cook your catch and great Sushi

-Sunset Grille- Pool onsite, good food and atmosphere. Sushi is great too

-

-Kikis Sandbar- 35min drive towards Key West on Little Torch Key, great food and great atmosphere.
